Segun Adebutu is a Nigerian visionary, business magnate, investor and philanthropist.
His vision to create an African conglomerate of world class standards, has seen him invest immensely in the Oil and Gas, Mining, Infrastructure, Construction, Telecommunications and Entertainment Industries across sub-Saharan Africa.
As a strategic business enthusiast, he started trading in oil and gas in 2004.
Over the years, through a combination of doggedness and foresight, the business has grown into one of Africa’s leading conglomerate providing services spanning across refining, storage, distribution and retailing of petroleum products.
Adebutu has dedicated his extensive knowledge of the industry towards playing a huge role in its advancement, the most notable being his investment in a Mega Oil City in Ibefun, Ogun State.
The energy city, which sits on a landmass that spans over 101 square kilometres, a tenth of the entire size of Lagos State, houses a 300 million-litre tank farm, the largest and first of its kind in sub-Saharan Africa.
Upon completion, the megacity it will be home to a 250,000 barrel-per- day capacity refinery, an ultramodern lube plant, an LNG and LPG plant, and a power plant.
The project is expected to create over 10,000 direct and indirect jobs.
At present, Adebutu serves on the board of various blue-chip companies as Chairman and Director, some of which include Oladiran Engineering and Trade Nigeria Limited and Petrolex Oil and Gas, an innovative diversified energy services organisation providing value added services in supply and distribution of petroleum products, used oil recovery, fleet/fuel management services and shipping and logistics.
Segun Adebutu is the founder, financier and chairman of Oladiran Olusegun Adebutu (OOA) Foundation, a not- for-profit and non-political organisation, which was formally launched in October 2016 at Abeokuta, Ogun State.
The foundation is committed to supporting orphans and vulnerable children through access to "quality education, primary healthcare, nutrition as well as social and economic welfare." The foundation whose mantra is ‘Leave No Child Behind’ adopted 300 internally displaced children, and has been responsible for their upkeep including education, feeding, housing and health.
Adebutu is the Chairman of Bluebridge Marine, Oladiran Agro-Allied Company and a music record label, named Baseline Records.
Adebutu is also the Executive Director and a member of the Board of Premier Lotto Nigeria Limited. He studied Economics at the prestigious University of Ibadan.
